The enormously successful Essay Competition, which was held in partnership with the WC Education Department in 2019, is in the throes of being launched again this year.
After extremely positive feedback from the organisers, participants and various officials from the Education Department, it was agreed to launch the next chapter in March, 2020. The competition will again target high school learners and topics will be mainly around Social Values and Social Justice. According to Dr Elias Parker, a more detailed programme with the final topics, rules of engagement, due dates and the Awards Day information will be posted to all schools in the first week of February. “There will once again be exciting prizes for the winning entries and we will make sure that we give as many children as possible the opportunity to enter the competition,” he said.
Fazeela Haffejee, senior official at the Education Department encouraged schools to engage with the opportunity. “It is a platform for our children to express themselves in a manner that brings out the creative skills of many. Often learners have such wonderful talent but do not have forum to express them,” she said.
The Academia Library website will carry all the relevant details as they become available.
